Hey family!
This week was quite a good one. We had lots of good things happen and some investigators really progress. We also had some exciting things happen.
First things first, the investigators. The investigators that we have right now are Ana Maria and Delmi. Ana Maria is about 70 years old and is the wife of a member who’s name is Brother Ceferinos, who has been a member about a year. And then Delmi is their granddaughter, but she is like their child because she has lived with them since she was eight days old. This Saturday we will be going to the temple with them and they have a date to be baptized the 30th of this month. They are both super awesome and have big desires to be baptized.
The other investigator that is progressing really well is Jose. It is a little harder to teach him because he is a little bit slower. He cannot read and was never taught about God and has never really attended church before a few weeks ago. He also does not know a lot of words, so it is kinda hard for him to talk or to pray. He is 22 years old and wants to be baptized on the 23rd of this month.
Right now we are coming into full on mango season! Everywhere you go you see mangos growing up in the trees. When they are really red and yellow that is when they are ready to be eaten. By the end of this month and the first couple weeks of April all of the mangos will be ready to eat.
So contacting out here is super different. The houses are set up a little different, so we almost never actually knock a door, the houses have fences and then the house is set back in a little bit. So you just walk up to the gate and yell, BUENAAAS!!! Which is just like yelling hello. A lot of times before even introducing ourselves and everything, they will just say come in.
I saved my companions life yesterday! Not really saved his life, but there was a dog that was about to bite his leg and I saved him from getting bit. I have a really quick time for being able to get my backpack off and swinging. The dogs were something else yesterday. At night when we were walking home for the day there were three little dogs that were barking and making us nervous that they were going to attack. We had the backpacks off and we were ready. Luckily we got past them no problem. But then I looked behind us to see a big dark brown pit bull running at us! We both ripped off our backpacks and started backing up from it. We took one good swing at it and it was enough to scare it so it went running down the road. Both of us had our adrenalin running high for the next 10 minutes or so!
One of the scriptures that I have really liked lately is Isaiah 41:13, “For the Lord thy God shall hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.” Just a great reminder to us all that although really hard things happen, Like the passing of Ryan, that God shall hold our hand and say unto us fear not, he will help us. Have an amazing week this week! I hope that everything goes well and that we can all find success in our different goals and efforts.
I love you all!
