Here are some bits and pieces from Elder Marks' latest email, sounds like he has had some neat experiences the last week or so.
"So first off I've got to tell you about this girl we've been teaching. Her name is Kristi, she's 18. She took the first 2 missionary lessons a couple months ago because her boyfriend was a member. They broke up and she didn't have any interest in taking the lessons at that time. We re-established contact about 1 1/2 weeks ago and have been meeting with her ever since but not teaching her the lessons because we both felt she wasn't quite ready and we needed to build the relationship first. She watched 3 of the 4 sessions of conference with us. We were at dinner Sunday night after watching conference with her and she sent us a series of texts talking about how she felt like baptism was something she really wants right now. We've been answering questions that she has and talking a little about baptism. She said she wants to take the lessons as fast as she can and get baptized! What a feeling!
I got a training call! We have transfer meeting tomorrow and I will be training a new missionary strait from the MTC! I'm super excited to work with someone so new with so much fire for the work! Along with me, there are two other companionships in the district who are getting new missionaries as well so it will be a very young district. I know we will see many miracles take place in the coming weeks and months. It seems a little crazy to take over the area...both wards after 2-1/2 weeks of being here, and then training, and still trying to figure out this DL stuff...There is a lot I need to improve personally and this might be the Lords way of encouraging that change."
"I'm super excited for Kylie to be able to go through the temple! It is something I wish I could be there for. It was great to see the MTC choir sing at conference! I was thinking a bit about that too. I'm excited to serve a mission at the same time as Kylie.
We haven't had any further contact with John from McFatties or the Woodruffs :o( Elder Galenzoski has had a lot of people he's wanted to say goodbye to so we've been going around doing that for him. The biggest thing this area needs is more people to teach and I feel like there are some real potential investigators right now that we need to secure, and many who we need to find that are waiting for us. Finding will be a bit focus for us."
