My Dear Family,
It really was a treat to talk with everyone on Christmas! I find it very rejuvenating and it helps me refocus on the work. The reason there is a rule to keep the calls short is so that missionaries don't get trunky, but personally it helps me to talk with everyone! It was really great to talk with Kylie a bit as well. We were able to talk for 45 minutes or so before I had to go to dinner. It is so awesome serving at the same time. We were able to share some experiences and pray together.
There have been miracles the past week and a half or so! The day after Christmas we had a powerful lesson with Smokey and he is on date to be baptized on January 17th!
Elder Smith and I were eating at Chili’s the other night when Elder Smith went to use the restroom I got to talking with our waiter, Isaac. At first he thought we were Jehovah's Witness missionaries and he said that he's already studied with "us" before and I told him we were missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and he had no idea what I was talking about so I told him we were Mormons - lol. We spoke for a couple minutes and he was coming and going a bit and then came back and we talked for about 10 minutes and exchanged phone numbers. He said he would be fine if we called sometime to talk. The next day we got a voicemail from him saying he wanted to meet up that day and talk. It was P-Day and our night was busy and we've been busy since but we have an appointment with him tomorrow! That's the first time I've ever gotten a new investigator from someone at a restaurant. We always try to talk with them and leave them a card but it was nice to finally see some success come from it - haha!
Well we have a lunch appointment every Thursday with some less-active Sisters in the ward so we better be heading out soon. I sure love you all and I am praying for each of you. Keep on Keepin on, I love ya!
Your Son, and Brother,
Elder W. Marks
P.S. I got a bit of ham the other day lol.
